MV Loch Portain has been removed from service and is now berthed at James Watt Dock, in Greenock, where further investigations into the vibration levels on all 4 main engines and associated gearboxes will take place.

We have the full support of the OEM for the main engines and gearbox to aid these investigations and provide proposed engineered solutions to the vibration level experienced.

We are expecting a full report with recommendations this week and a further update can be provided once more information is available.

MV Loch Bhrusda has been redeployed and will operate an amended timetable on Berneray – Leverburgh until Monday 24 August.

Impacted Bookings

Little Minch sailings

Until Monday 17 August

Due to disruption elsewhere in the network, MV Glen Sannox will operate additional sailings on the Little Minch service. This will allow us to provide support for interisland services.

Little Minch/Ullapool-Stornoway

Monday 17 August

To allow essential works to be carried out to MV Glen Sannox, the vessel will relocate to Stornoway and will operate the following additional sailing:

Depart Lochmaddy – 16:20

Arrive Stornoway – 19:20

MV Hebrides will operate as normal.

MV Glen Sannox Passenger Lift

Customers are advised that the "Orange" passenger lift on MV Glen Sannox is currently out of use until further notice. Alternative lifts remain available for use on both sides of the vessel.

Summer Tidal Amendments 2026

Due to tidal conditions, amended timetables will operate on the following dates during the Summer timetable:

August: 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 28, 29, 30, 31

September: 1, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 25, 26, 28, 29, 30

October: 9, 10, 12, 13

Turn Up and Go and Bookable route online purchases. If you have purchased tickets online as a group or for any number of travel companions, for use on any of our Turn Up and Go or Bookable routes, the full party must travel on the same sailing. This applies to both legs of your journey. If you are unsure if all members of your group are travelling together, please complete separate transactions online.

To subscribe to live updates for a particular route text the words CALMAC and SUBSCRIBE along with the route code of your choice to 60030 e.g. "CALMAC SUBSCRIBE 23". This will automatically subscribe you to ongoing service information relating to that route for a six month period.
